Designed by Chicago's Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP (SOM), Chief designer Adrian Smith and Chief structural engineer Bill Baker.
The inspiration derived from Islamic architecture and the Hymenocallis, desert flower, whose petals come out of the stem like the towers extend from it's center core. Made primarily of concrete, steel and glass.
Officially opened January 4, 2010.
This beautiful structure hold 13 records including tallest, free standing building in the world.
